We are pleased to announce that we will again be presenting our members with an opportunity for a multi-night stay to fish from West Yellowstone, MT this fall, October 14-18/19.
Register here asap. This is first-come-first-served trip with limited spaces available (up to 14, depending on bedroom and bathroom availability).
A $200 deposit will be required once the attendance list is completed.
DETAILS:
We will be staying at our usual eight bedroom, five bath cabin. This location provides direct access to fish in beautiful Yellowstone Park, the US’s first, and surrounding areas. Rivers include the easily 'wadable' Firehole, noted as a wonderful rainbow fishery, Gibbon, Lamar and the famed Madison inside and outside the Park.
This is the time of year to catch large ‘runner’ brown and rainbow trout traveling upstream from Hebgen Lake for the spawn. Indigenous whitefish, cutthroat and rainbow-cutthroat hybrid are also present. This is a well-known ‘destination’ for fly fisher-persons (that's us), from all parts of the US at a time\opportunity to take large, normally lake-feeding trout in moving water.

All types of fly fishing methods are available. This includes dry fly fishing, especially as hot springs warm portions of rivers like the Firehole. Also at this time, and given that West Yellowstone is at 6,670’ elevation, it can be quite cold and already include snowfall and sub-freezing weather.
Please come prepared:
- Bear spray is strongly recommended.
- A Yellowstone fishing license,
- barbless single hooks and
- non-lead split shot are required inside the Park.
Securing of accommodations and all food including food to pack for lunches and snacks will be organized and provided by your host, Kim Schroeder (except for dinner on the first day). Attendees will share in the cooking and clean up, as assigned by the host, and to be shared equally among the group.
Attendance will be accepted on a first-in basis and within the limitations of the accommodations, as there are a fixed number of couple and single person room and bathroom options.
After sign-up, those on the reservation list will be required to submit a non-refundable deposit of $200/person, payable by a variety of methods directly to Kim Schroeder. A non-refundable deposit of $1,600 has already been paid to secure the cabin for the Membership.
The balance of the cabin rental and food will be due approximately 60 days before the first day of the trip. Last year’s total cost for food was a little under $100/person and a total cost of $404/person.
Hope to see you there!
