Blacksmith Fork - May 8, 2026

Twelve of us fished the Blacksmith Fork River from Hyrum, Utah.  It was a clear and beautiful day with lots of fish seen in the river and not many others fishing on a spring Friday in the canyon.  We met at the Blacksmith Fork River Trailhead and headed to various pull-outs along the river, meeting for lunch near Pioneer Campground.  Fortunately for us, they opened the pit toilets as we arrived!

Not everyone caught fish, but probably over half caught 3 or more mostly (all?) browns, including an 18" brown by Ron up near Hardware Ranch.  Not an easy river, but lots of fish to be had if you know what they are interested in taking.
